Dietary Advice

Your pets dietary requirements will change as they enter different life stages. Puppies and kittens grow at a fast rate and their diet is a crucial part of keeping them fit and healthy for life. Puppies and kittens need to start off on a growth food (puppy or kitten food) until they are approximately 12 months of age. This can vary for different breeds and different brands of food. With so much choice out there now, from so many brands take care to choose one that fits your pet’s needs. Feel free to pop into the surgery or ring us for further advice.

Once your pet becomes an adult it is time to change onto adult food and later on a senior pet needs a different diet that has a formulation to help support the liver and kidneys as they become older.

Regular weight checks are a good way of making sure your pet stays in good shape and doesn’t slip into the trap of becoming overweight. Obesity in animals can cause many life-limiting diseases. We run weight clinics, which are free of charge to our clients and these are a perfect way of getting feeding regimes perfect.
